New Patients

What Will Happen On My First Visit?

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our friendly and caring staff. We value your time, so we strive to keep to our scheduled appointment times. Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time so we can make sure we have all of the information the doctor requires prior to meeting you. Feel free to call us if you have any difficulty locating the office.

You will meet with the doctor for a thorough initial prosthodontics examination. Dr. Davis or Dr. Black will take the time to listen to your concerns, assess your clinical situation, and develop a treatment plan specifically tailored to your needs. If it is necessary for our doctors to consult with your general dentist, another appointment at a later date will be scheduled so that your treatment options can be discussed based on information from the dentists’ collaboration.

Our philosophy is to collaborate with you and your general dentist to determine the optimal cosmetic oral health plan for you. Your initial visit may take as long as an hour and a half. You will have an oral exam, often followed by a treatment conference at a later date to discuss your treatment plan. Please feel free to bring someone with you for the conference.

Please assist us at the time of your initial visit to the office by providing the following information:

Your filled-out new patient forms
Your referral slip and x-rays from your referring dentist if given to you directly.
A list of medications you are currently taking

(please note that you can print your patient registration and medical history form on our website. New Patients Forms.docx)

If you have dental benefits, please bring any forms or cards with you to the appointment.

Please Note: All patients under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation appointment.

Please notify the office if you have a medical condition or concern prior to surgery (e.g. artificial heart valves or joints, heart murmurs requiring premedication, severe diabetes, or hypertension).

We will complete an in-depth medical and dental health history and a thorough examination to measure for bone loss, loose teeth, bite, oral cancer screening, TMJ, and other signs of periodontal disease.

Definitely a 5-star organization! My implant “dentures” (at least 25 yrs. old) needed to be replaced. Dr. Black and staff to the rescue! Not only patient, professional and always in a great moods, they also made it happen pretty quickly! Perfect fit the first time with no “rubs” or sore spots!! Thank you, Dr. Black and incredible staff for my new smile (and the ability to bite into sandwiches again!)

Financial Options

Financial Support:

The primary mission of Village Prosthodontics is to deliver the finest and most comprehensive services available today. In order to assist you with the investment in your dental health, we have outlined our payment policy.

Payment Options:

Our policy is that payment is due at the time service is rendered. For your convenience, we accept cash, checks, money orders, Lending Club, Care Credit, and all major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover). We also offer options for in-house financing. If you are fortunate enough to have dental benefits, we will be very happy to file your plan for your reimbursement.

Dental Benefit Information:

Due to the limitations of allowed treatment from dental plan companies, we are considered non-participating or “out of network.” This means we will collect fees for service and as a courtesy to our patients, we will then file a claim to the dental benefits company for their reimbursement of procedures rendered.
Patients that obtain PPO dental plans are typically allowed to see a non-participating provider. Patients that have an HMO typically are limited to only participating providers. If you have any questions regarding your dental benefits, please contact your dental benefits provider.
Patients can call their plan benefit company using the dental procedure codes provided on the treatment plan obtained during a treatment conference in our office to learn the estimate of what the benefits will cover. We encourage our patients to call for this information since the plan benefit companies have to disclose this information immediately to the insured party. If requested, we would be delighted to send a pre-determination for our patient, but this does tend to take an estimated 30 days to receive a response.

FAQ's

Prosthodontics is a branch of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation, and maintenance and creation of artificial replacements for teeth or other parts of the mouth. We specialize in the comfort, appearance, and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth and/or oral and maxillofacial tissues. Prosthodontists are dental specialists who have additional training in this field and generally collaborate with general dentists, oral surgeons, periodontists and orthodontists to create and execute a plan to restore the functionality and appearance of a beautiful, full smile. We typically focus on the design, creation, and placement of artificial teeth, such as dentures, bridges, and crowns.

Our prosthodontics services include cosmetic dentistry such as bridges, crowns, veneers and full smile makeovers. We also provide removable restorations such as partial dentures for missing teeth and full dentures for no teeth. Our dental implant services include the restoration of single and multiple implants as well as full arch restoration and smile design. We also have dental appliances such as custom mouth guards for TMJ pain and sleep apnea appliances.

If you have missing or damaged teeth, or if you have difficulty speaking or chewing, you may need a dental prosthetic. Some common signs that you may need a dental prosthetic include:

  • Visible gaps in your teeth
  • Difficulty biting or chewing food
  • Trouble speaking clearly
  • Pain or discomfort in your jaw or teeth

It’s best to consult with a dentist or prosthodontist to determine if a dental prosthetic is right for you.

If you believe you’re in need of a dental prosthetic, you should call and schedule an appointment at Village Prosthodontics to set up an initial consultation. During this consultation, our experienced prosthodontists will evaluate your oral health and collaborate with you and your general dentist to formulate the best plan for your dental needs.

The coverage of dental prosthetics can be complex and varies greatly between insurance providers, individual plans, and states. Some insurance plans may cover the cost of certain types of dental prosthetics, while others may not. It’s best to check with your insurance provider to see what is covered under your specific plan and to understand the specifics of your coverage.
